The Spectrum Cafe

City traffic is never fun. However, it does give you a chance to see what your fellow city dweller’s views are by reading the stickers they choose to de-value their vehicles with. Some are very “colorful” to say the least. Some are funny and some are just plain obnoxious!
Driving home from work one sunny afternoon, I was behind a very large four wheel drive pick-up truck that had a lot of reading material splatter over the tailgate. It was obvious to me that the driver had some very strong views about many subjects; including our newly elected President.
One sticker caught my attention; I didn’t have much choice but notice because this truck was so big that it nearly blocked out the sun and I could not see anything else. It said: “If it has tits or wheels- it will give you trouble.” Really now!
This started me thinking about whether or not this was really true. Was I just as much trouble to my boyfriend as his shiny red pick-up?! He is always doing one thing or another to that truck, telling me this needed to be fixed or that needed to be tuned up. I usually just rolled my eyes and said “whatever” and he would run off like a child going out to play in a sandbox. I couldn’t possibly be that much trouble- I only get “tuned-up” once or twice a week! That truck gets way more attention than me!
But then I started thinking about the times when we are going out somewhere and it takes me over an hour to get ready. Or the times when he has done something that angers me and I bring up every one of his faults and every mistake he has made since we had been together. During these times the look on his face is the same as when he is working on his truck and it’s being difficult. He will stand with his hands on his hips and just stare at the object that is causing him grief- like he is mentally willing something bad to happen to it or imagining it in flames! I’ve seen that look directed towards that truck- an towards me!
So. Two things must be true. One: The person who penned the bumper sticker is obviously male. Two: he has had at least one relationship involving a woman, whether it be his mother or a girl friend.
I guess there are some truths that can be found on the backs of cars- if has tits or wheels, it will, eventually, give you trouble. Consider yourselves warned guys!!!
